| Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine [July 2009] awarded Castle Rock 2007 Reserve Lake County Petite Sirah a score of 88 points, a "puff" and a GOOD VALUE nomination. "As readers of CGCW are well aware, we are real fans of Castle Rock''s valuepriced Pinots, and this new Petite similarly wins an enthusiastic vote of thumbs up for both its deep and outgoing fruit and for its modest price. It is weighty yet polished and not at all tough, and, even if it is firmed by grippy finishing tannins, it never lets go of its persistent and clearly defined fruit. |
